Summer Youth Program Organizations Can Use New Grant Program To Assist Low & Moderate Income Students With Tuition

United Way of Southwest Louisiana’s new Summer Impact Grant application is open. Organizations in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron or Jeff Davis parishes providing summer programs to students 5 to 18 years of age may apply. The funding is to be used as tuition assistance for children in low to moderate income households.  The application deadline is 4pm on May 15, 2023.The application and all information are online at unitedwayswla.org/summergrant.

United Way of Southwest Louisiana will offer a maximum award of $1,000 to eligible organizations to be used as tuition assistance. Summer programming of applying agencies should include focus areas such as arts, advocacy, dance, leadership, literacy, and STEM. The goal of encouraging youth summer programs is to close Louisiana’s educational achievement gap and improve health outcomes for low to moderate income students.

Applications must be submitted through the online form located at unitedwayswla.org/summergrant . Applying organizations must be registered and in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State. Faith-based organizations and others are invited to apply.

United Way of Southwest Louisiana’s ALICE study should be used by organizations when making decisions about which students to serve. Organizations are encouraged to give priority to households falling below the ALICE Threshold which can be found online at unitedwayswla.org/ALICE.

The deadline to apply is May 15, 2023 at 4 pm.
