It is possible to build a stronger community where everyone has more opportunity to succeed—when we work together. Now more than ever, United Way of SWLA and volunteers can join forces to fight for change. We develop youth volunteers that understand the impact made and continue to give back throughout their lives. Our community thrives when everyone is healthy, happy and safe.
SUMMER OF SERVICE FOR 2024!
SO MANY PEOPLE CHOOSE TO VOLUNTEER WITH UNITED WAY BECAUSE WE FIGHT FOR LASTING CHANGE AND ARE JOINED BY MILLIONS AROUND THE WORLD. OUR GLOBAL STRATEGY ACHIEVES BIGGER RESULTS, BUT OUR LOCAL UNITED WAY OF SWLA ENSURES WE TAILOR NEEDS AND SOLUTIONS TO OUR COMMUNITY. BY SHOWING CHILDREN THEY CAN MAKE AN IMPACT, WE CREATE CHANGE THAT WILL RESONATE FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.
- Denise Durel, President and CEO of United Way of Southwest Louisiana
IS YOUR CHILD EXPERIENCING SUMMER BRAIN DRAIN?
United Way of Southwest Louisiana's Summer of Service program will have them off the couch, learning new things and meeting new people all over the community. Research has repeatedly shown the value of keeping young people engaged, active and using their brain during the hot months of summer. We listened and are giving area youth a fun and rewarding way to learn!
ABOUT SUMMER OF SERVICE
United Way of Southwest Louisiana's Summer of Service program is specifically designed for ages 13 to 18.
Each project is expected to take one to three hours to complete and volunteers can sign up for any number of dates.
Youth volunteers will aid United Way of Southwest Louisiana staff with projects in our community. While fostering a greater understanding and appreciation for the diversity in Southwest Louisiana, we will illustrate the value of serving those most in need.
Volunteers will follow social distancing protocols.
